Free eBook PDUs and Library Links
Here are links to legal copies of some of my favorite PM-related books, e-books, and PDFs that I’ve used to renew my own PMP. Claiming free eBook PDUs is great since you have the materials on hand if your renewal application is audited. For non-free books or eBooks, I’ve included links to check out or download the eBook from your local library or purchase from Amazon. Please respect any copyright or distribution restrictions on these materials and support the author if you find the material useful.
You can claim up to 60 PDUs (1 PDU = 1 hour of self-study) for reading PM-related books/ebooks/PDFs under the PDU Category: “Education – Read / Informal Learning.” Note: we do not recommend claiming PDUs for reading websites because published books, ebooks, and PDFs are often easier to get approved and to provide supporting documentation for compared to websites. After reading the following materials, you can simply copy and paste the details into your PDU claim entry on CCRS. Note: the 3 subject areas of PMI’s Talent Triangle have been re-named: Ways of Working (previously Technical Project Management), Power Skills (previously Leadership), and Business Acumen (previously Strategic and Business Management).

This is a great overview of Scrum. It is made for free by a for-profit training company. Since Scrum is not standardized, anyone is free to write a book and invent a Scrum certification. Regardless, this book is still a useful overview of the main practices. |

This is a good example of a lengthy PM text book that you can read and claim quite a few PDUs for, including some harder to find non-Technical PDUs. There are many similar books you can buy or borrow, but I happen to like this one for a general overview of IT project management with lots of good example templates. |
